Meath Camogie league, Division 2: Final (replay)
Kiltale 3-6, Navan O’Mahony’s 2-4

Kiltale made no mistake in this replay beating Navan and capturing the Division 2 league title.

Missing five players from the last day, the odds were all against Kiltale but a great start with a goal apiece from Niamh Courtney and Donna McGann made sure Kiltale were well on their way with a 2-4 to 1-1 lead at half time.

The second half proved a tighter affair with Navan hitting 1-1 without reply but Kiltale settled and thanks to some superb defending from Jessica Moriarty , Ciara Donoghue and Shirley Dixon the Navan fight back was quenched.

Another goal from Niamh Courtney ensured Kiltale got the win, which means that Kiltale were unbeaten in both league and championship, a feat completed by no other camogie team in Meath this year. Best for Kiltale were Jessica Moriarty, Niamh Courtney, Cheyanne O’Brien, Jenny Rispin, Taylor Little and Ciara Donoghue.

Christy Mangan presented the shield to Louise Donoghue where he complemented the Kiltale Club on their great year and praised their hard work since being relegated in 2011. In her speech Louise paid tribute to Brian Coughlan for his efforts this year.

This was tough opposition for Kiltale to open their 2012 season. After getting relegated last year Kiltale needed a good start to this year’s campaign.

It was Navan who got the early lead, getting a goal from the puck in leaving Kiltale chasing the game. Kiltale responded well and showed no fear to their senior opponents. They fought back and took the lead thanks to scores from Cheyenne O’Brien, Aoife Weston, Taylor little and two goals from Sarah Kelly gave Kiltale a much deserved lead in the first half.

Once again in the second half Navan started the strongest and fought back with three unanswered points to narrow the score difference to just three points.
