Club Update

August 16, 2020

More excellent work undertaken at the weekend at the pitches, as well as the old nets at the far end of the main pitch being removed (new nets going up in next couple of weeks) the tree stumps which were there were also completely removed by Brian Reilly.

Unfortunately the Clubhouse remains closed however we’re using the opportunity to give the place a face-lift. We’ll keep that as a surprise for the moment but we think you’ll like the new look when we eventually open the doors again!

Also, the juvenile pitch is now marked and setup for the underage groups including permanent goalposts at both ends.
In future there will be no parking on this pitch, we will be using along the wall and behind the trees/far goals of the new juvenile pitch for cars.

Image may contain: grass, outdoor and nature

Watch out too for new signage going up shortly.

To all that continue to assist the club in whatever way, we are most grateful.
Our ground has 2 adult pitches and 1 juvenile, walking/running track, dressing rooms, new toilet facilities and clubhouse that all need to be maintained.
Work like that done at the weekend and pitch cutting during the week is done by our volunteers who continue to alleviate the costs and we are indebted to them, however some costs are incurred.

We remind you that our club lotto is presently our only way to financially support the club. Our expenses include loan repayments, county board payments and upkeep and maintenance. We’ve had a lot more games than usual recently and it’s great to hear the compliments about our grounds we’ve received coming from other clubs.

Continue please to play our club lotto and play responsibly – https://play.clubforce.com/play_newa.asp…

The club fundraiser in May assisted hugely for our 2020 affiliation, COVID requirements (new signage, hand sanitisers etc) and other payments as outlined above.

We’d also like to thank our sponsors, in the present climate it is not easy for companies so thank you all.
We’ll be selling more advertising space shortly as well, details soon.

For the members, committee, parents, teams and mentors you have all been responsible with COVID and we thank you and ask you all to continue to adhere to all requirements. Complete Healthy Declaration before training or games. Wash hands – Sanitise hands on entry and exit – Keep you distance – keep contact tracing list – keep to time slot for training – don’t hang around- respect all others and we should be safe.
If you feel unwell at anytime don’t go to pitch or training or games. COVID is not a disease it is a virus which effects all differently. Be honest to yourself, your family, colleagues if you are unwell and any COVID symptoms – isolate – ring GP and inform those concerned your not feeling well. This is about trust/honesty there should be no stigma if you contract it.

Thank you
Kiltale Hurling Club Committee

Fundraiser 2020 details!

June 14, 2020

This year’s fundraiser will be a relay run involving all of our adult players both hurling and camogie and the footballers from our sister club Moynalvey but everyone is welcome to participate.

You can add your support here:

https://www.gofundme.com/f/kiltale-hurling-amp-camogie-club-24hr-relay-run?fbclid=IwAR09hJXuQ32oGg00K79Jo2e3AwfK-B8h3XWN6B5qXU_wezzNltzf_TfjZuk

Please take a moment to read the full details from our Chairman Stephen:

I hope you are all keeping safe and well in these unprecedented times. It has been heartening to see the people of our community and parish pull together to support each other in numerous unseen ways. There is now light at the end of the tunnel and Kiltale Hurling and Camogie Club are ready to embrace the new normal.Due to COVID‐19 we are unable to have our annual “The Walk and Talk” fundraiser.

This fundraiser was our biggest funding for the year, which covers costs of running the club and keeping the extensive grounds. Kiltale has had a very successful period on the field that culminated in an historic 5 in-a-row senior championships.

We are eager to get back and try to regain the coveted Jubilee Cup. Our camogie team are also back to winning ways and are looking forward to a return to the senior ranks this year. These teams are only the flagship of a thriving club that caters for young boys and girls, and those not so young with the very popular walking track. The grounds are used extensively by teams from age 6 to senior across the parish.

With no income from our clubhouse, and traditional fundraising initiatives, we need to get creative to generate funds to keep the grounds and overheads covered until next year. Most importantly, we need to pay the remainder of our public liability so we can open our grounds for all teams to get back training, and of course opening up the walkway for all our members to enjoy a walk or run.

There are also a number of infrastructural projects, such as the walking track extension, dugout renovations and netting we would like to progress. As mentioned above, the fundraiser is going to be a relay run starting at the clubhouse, taking in some parish scenery, and ending at the clubhouse. The distance is 12km and each runner will run 3k or 6k click elbow and next runner will run the subsequent leg.All of our adult players both hurling and camogie and the footballers from our sister club Moynalvey will be taking part and anyone within the parish is welcome to give it a go.

We aim to have 100 plus runners and at the end of the nonstop run we will have achieved 600km in total, which may even be an Irish record for longest relay!!

There will also be an opportunity for those less ambitious to participate by walking the track, and those with more agricultural inclinations to join a tractor run on the route.Watch out for the details of a GoFundMe that will be set up for everyone to support their friends, family and the club.

It will take a huge effort by all involved as the run will take place over 24 hours non-stop from Saturday, June 20th through to Sunday the 21st.

Thank you for all your support in the past and we look forward to your continued support for the Kiltale 24-Hour Relay.
Please support the cause by donating on our Go Fund Me page:
